Dozens of Ethiopian domestic workers are sleeping outside their consulate in Lebanon after being abandoned there by their employers. They claim they can no longer afford to pay the women's salaries — which can be as low as $150 per month — due to Lebanon's economic crisis.
"Just because there's no money, they send us in taxis and dump us here," says Mimi, an Ethiopian domestic worker, outside the Ethiopian consulate in Hazmieh, Lebanon. "Would [employers] bring their children and leave them on the street?"
